4 capsule pieces for my neutral spring wardrobe.

I have been watching Marie Kondo’s netflix special on repeat ever sense it came out. I have of course purged bajillions of things, learned how to fold all my laundry in the tidiest little stacks and seriously pared down the majority of our household items. But one thing about Kon Mari, is that even though I felt so good having a minimal amount of wardrobe items that sparked joy… I was left with a mish mash of items that didn’t exactly equal a full and flexible wardrobe that I could build on.

ENTER THE SEASONAL MINI CAPSULE.

I read about a seasonal mini-capsule while perusing Barefoot Blonde one evening, and it hit me. This was the answer to the post Kon Mari method scarcely populate closet I was looking at. I can keep my closet and clothes to a neat and tidy minimal amount of items, yet have some seasonal basics that will allow for the “spark joy” pieces to be useful and make their repeated seasonal appearances in my outfits. Since it is Spring right now, I am starting with my Spring Mini Capsule. I’ll be posting weekly with a look made from the capsule, and I’ll make sure to highlight the staple capsule pieces and denote which ones are the “spark joy” pieces that I’ll rotate in and out of the wardrobe.

MY SPRING CAPSULE OUTFIT 1 : The Mom-Uniform

I need a go-to outfit that I can wear for everyday #momlife that is a little more put together than just leggings and sneakers. ( but that I can still function in like I am wearing leggings and sneakers, ya know? )

1. The BBT. Basic Black Top. I chose a bbt that could take me from fancy to casual. This is a microfiber stretch tube top. It is so comfortable and stays in place so well! I can pair it with a skirt, tucked into shorts or jeans as you see here!
2. A neutral colored structured jacket. This one is from last year, but there are many similar styles available. Like this one, or this one.
3. Comfy jeans! These white wide leg crops are perfect for spring! I also love this look paired with skinny medium wash jeans that I will show later on in my capsule post series. Similar linked here
4. The ultimate sandal. Comfort + style + functionality. These Arche sandals from Zappos are literally the best things I’ve put on my feet in a while. If you’ve have seen my instagram stories recently you’ll know that they are the ultimate mom shoes and I’m pretty much wearing them everyday. The are super high quality and buttery soft leather with a tennis shoe type support and I can run after kids, jump around and do all the mom life things yet still look polished enough for client meetings and the office. They are a bit of an investment, but these days I am truly trying to transition my wardrobe away from “fast fashion” and but quality pieces that will last a lifetime. I love the ease of ordering online and have found that Zappos carries many of the higher quality brands I am looking for in an “all in one” kind of place. Plus these days shopping with kids in an actual store is another level of hell. Ya feel me? So I find myself gravitating towards online shopping or none at all. Zappos has free two day shipping for rewards members, 365 day return policy, great customer service available 24-7, and a wide selection of items from a ton of brands! They sell so much more than shoes now, and until recently I had no idea! I’ve loved the items I’ve ordered and the easy returns / customer service is clutch!

So that was capsule look number one! Using only my spring mini capsule basics. I’ll be adding to this series at least weekly ( or more if possible!) until I have showcased my entire 20-piece mini capsule.
