I am so thrilled to finally share June’s modern nursery tour! She may already be 16 months old, but we finally finished her room! Better late than never amiright?! Nursery decor can be so overwhelming. I knew I wanted a modern / playful / boho vibe for the space, but I couldn’t quite pull it all together on my own.
This was originally my husbands office, but once June outgrew co-sleeping at 10 months ( aka we decided we needed our own space back ) we began the process of converting it into her nursery.
I had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted, and I got about halfway there on my own. But it was missing the cohesive and peaceful feeling that I so vividly envisioned.
So I decided it was time to enlist help! My first move was having my talented friend Jessica Wall of Buttermilk Design come over and help me with the room layout. She worked miracles helping me use what I already had in the room, and laid the foundation for how the room would function.
However, I still needed to make the investment in a few more pieces but couldn’t decide what exactly those needed to be. –> ENTER THE HAVENLY. Best decision ever.
The world of nursery decor can be so overwhelming- literally thousands of options! Having a stylist saved me so much time sourcing all the elements. I had the pleasure of working with Havenly stylist Elizabeth who introduced me to pieces I wouldn’t have known about, presented beautiful mood boards and created all those finishing touches – including the custom cubby makeover – taking my tired old cubby shelf from blah to beautiful. I mean who would have ever thought to add legs to it?! Seriously design genius.
This is the cubby shelf before –
We started with a neutral pallet of white and wood and added pops of succulent green, light grey and white through the decor- leaving room to easily change the color scheme later down the road without having to re-invest in the bigger key pieces.
The result is a peaceful, organized and beautiful nursery space for June to sleep and play.
Though it’s safe to say my favorite piece in the whole space is the custom Jill Gordon Ford painting. Jill is an incredible artist and each of her pieces are filled with such soul and depth. ( not to mention amazingly gorgeous ) She uses all the elements to create her pieces – she even blows the paint with her breath?! So cool. This piece in particular has such heavy meaning to it. I will write about this at a later date – but in short, Jill’s lost her beautiful 8 month old daughter to SIDS and through her heartbreak her art is becoming a vehicle of healing and blessing to others. You can find more on her story and her work here.

Loving june’s Room! Very calming vibe. Beautiful sPace!!!
Thank you so much! It’s one of my very favorite spots in the home.
Because the nursery is special. It’s the room where a parent s hopes and dreams will become real. It’s where they’ll make their first memories with their child. In some small way, it might even leave a mark on the kiddo s personality.
